Smoker’s Hack

Before I post this next entry, I just wanted to apologize for not updating the site as much as usual – I’ve been sick in bed for the last week with a nasty sinus infection, and I’ll be busy as hell for the next week trying to catch up at work. But once I get back on track, Smoker’s Hack will be go back to being it’s tastefully cool self.

So here’s another commercial that puts the emphasis on length. I guess if your man isn’t up to par, you might as well have something long. But when you really think about it, the “long” cigarette is more about leisure smoking. Back then, you could take your time with your cigarette – go ahead and smoke a “long”, because you weren’t in a hurry to go anywhere. It’s not like now, where I have to run outside, light it up, puff away in a hurry, and rush back inside before the show starts or the meal hits the table. In today’s smoking society, there is no time to smoke “longs”. You barely have the time or place to smoke a short. If this commercial was set in the year 2007, it would go like this:

Beach Police (not related to the Dream Police): “Excuse me ma’am, I need to ask you to put that out. This is “No-Smoking” beach.
Tax Paying Citizen Lady: “But there’s no one around me!”
Beach Police: “I’m sorry ma’am, but it’s bothering the sand bees and horseflies.”
Tax Paying Citizen Lady: “Lady be Kool, my ass!”
