For all the WRONG reasons…..

If you weren’t suck a fucking pussy and burned down your house during Fire Season, you could have had some insurance money to buy Christmas presents for your kids.

And now that times are tough, you wish you were getting a carton under your Christmas tree.

Oh, I forgot – you couldn’t afford a tree this year.

I’ve been meaning to comment about this since September, but I’ve been busy (and lazy).

So back in September, Obama passed a bill making it illegal to sell “flavored cigarettes”. As a Djarum Black smoker (on occasion), this broke my heart.

I’ve read two different reasons for the ban – 1) flavored cigarettes encourage underage smoking, and 2) most flavored cigarettes aren’t made in the US, therefore all the US gets is sales tax from the sale.

Here are the Smoker’s Hack arguments:

1) When teens start smoking, they usually steal cigarettes from their parents. What parents smoke flavored cigarettes? (Besides gay goth parents)

2) Flavored cigarettes are EXPENSIVE! If teens are going to spend their money, it’s going to be on cheap cigarettes like Basics.

3) If the US doesn’t like the import of these cigarettes, then they need to step up and make a good product. I love supporting the US – so get on it.

BUT – get this – MENTHOLS aren’t banned.

Why not menthols? Last time I checked – MINT was a flavor. Kools and ‘Ports are cheaper than cloves, easier to get than cloves, and more influential people smoke menthols than cloves.

I wonder……

When I got this matchbook, as soon as I saw the building and the address, I said to myself (and my cat):

“I bet its that fucking Scientology building!”

Sure enough, the poor Hotel Christie has been turned into a Scientology Test Center. I used to work next door to it at the Egyptian Theater, and I remember trying to dodge “The Cult” while running to get to work on time.

Even though Scientology is a bunch of bullshit, I do give them props for their rehabilitation of old buildings. They really do fix them up nicely while trying to keep any historical attributes.

But it’s still a fucking cult.

So back to the Hotel Christie. It was built in 1922 and it was the first luxury hotel in Hollywood. Charles H.V. Christie was a Canadian that came here to make movies and opened up a little studio there on Hollywood Blvd. that made comedies. They used their earnings from that to open the Hotel Christie.

The Hotel Christie/Scientology Test Center is featured in one of my most FAVORITE movies of all time – “Reflections of Evil”. I found a clip on You Tube with the Hotel Christie scenes, starting at 0:09 second (where Bobby has a fit) and it’s featured in the background when the black guy is having a meltdown.

I bet Xenu enjoyed the Cocktail Lounge & Grill at the Hotel Christie!

I’ve always loved Indians, even when they’re crying over litter. Or when you win a jackpot.

So I thought I’d post come matchbooks that have classic Indians and a few Thanksgiving-y ones.

And remember – if you’re gonna fry a turkey, make sure you video it and put it on You Tube so I can watch you burn down your house.
